Thomas Goodman Roberts lived at 31 Wexham Street. He was my great great grandfather. His son Charles Goodman Roberts would move to live at Cae Merddyn, Penmon
GOODMAN ROBERTS.
Research at the National Library of Wales Aberystwyth, showed that Goodman Roberts married Catherine Jones on the 1st January 1816 in Beaumaris. Goodman Roberts is the earliest confirmed relative I have in the Roberts line. Goodman and Catherine Roberts are my great great great grandparents.
They are known to have had three sons, Thomas Goodman Roberts, my great great grandfather, John Roberts and Edward Goodman Roberts
THOMAS GOODMAN ROBERTS
Thomas Goodman Roberts is pictured here around 1900 in the garden of 31 Wexham Street, Beaumaris.
With him are his married daughter Anne Jane Williams and her children Anne Goodman Williams, baby Harry Goodman Williams and Thomas Goodman Williams.
Thomas Goodman Roberts was born in Beaumaris and christened on the 9th June 1824. He was a gardener by trade. His wife Ellinor (Ellen) was born c 1831 in Llaniolen, Caernarfon. The couple had had seven children, Catherine Roberts born c 1844, Charles Goodman Roberts born c 1852 (my great grandfather born c 1852), Mary Roberts born c 1856, Thomas Goodman Roberts born c 1857, Goodman Roberts born c 1863, Ellen Roberts born c 1864 and Ann Jane Roberts born 13th December 1867, pictured above with her father.
In 1851, the family lived at Baron Hill Lodge, Llanfaes. Thomas was 26 then and head of the household which consisted of his wife Ellen, 22 and only child Catherine 6 months old, named after her grandmother, and born in Llanfaes. Thomas worked as a gardener at Baron Hill, home of the wealthy Bulkeley family. Visiting Thomas on census day was William Roberts, a 'gentleman's servant', born in Beaumaris. His age is unknown.
Ten years on, in 1861, the family were living at 31 Wexham Street, Beaumaris. Thomas' age is noted as 40 and he still worked as a gardener. His wife Ellinor, 30, daughter Catherine 10 had been joined by children Charles G Roberts 9, born in Llanfaes, Thomas Roberts 8 born in Didsbury, Lancashire, Mary Roberts 4 and Goodman Roberts 2, both born in Beaumaris.
They were living at 17 Wexham Street during the 1871 census. Thomas, 46, was still a gardener with his wife Ellinor, 43 at home. Daughter Catherine, 20 was a housemaid, Charles 19 workedas a stableboy, Thomas,16 a butcher's servant, with Mary, 14, Goodman, 12, Ellen, 9, and Ann Jane all scholars.
The family had returned to 31 Wexham Street by 1881, and Elinor had passed away. Thomas, 58, was a widower.Son Thomas 24 was on the Militia staff, Goodman 19, a general labourer, Ellen 17 was housekeeper and Ann Jane 15, still at school.
In 1891 Thomas lived with son Goodman 27, a general labourer, Ann Jane a domestic 24 servant, and grandson John Roberts 5.
In 1901, 31 Wexham Street housed Thomas, 74, son Goodman 37 and his Daughter Ann Jane, 32 and her family. Her 38 year old husband John Williams was born in Bangor and worked as a general labourer, their son John Williams 15 was a domestic gardener, and other children Ann, 7 and Thomas 18 months were all born in Beaumaris.

CATHERINE ROBERTS
Catherine, or Kate was born c 1844 in Llanfaes parish and was their eldest known child. She lived with her parents ay Baron Hill Lodge in 1851, 31 Wexham Street in 1861, and was no longer living at home by the next census. She married Thomas Jones.They had two children, Thomas and Caroline.

MARY ROBERTS
Mary was born in Beaumaris c 1857 and lived at home during the 1861 and 1871 censuses.
THOMAS GOODMAN ROBERTS
Born in Didsbury, Lancashire, he was at home during the 1861, 1871 censuses, when he was a butcher's servant, and 1881 when he was a militia staff member. He was also a bell ringer at St Mary and Nicholas Church Beaumaris. He married Jane Helen Millichip, born c 1859. In 1923, they are recorded as living at 17 Stanley Street, Beaumaris. They had no children. Thomas died on the 11 February 1933 aged 79, and his wife joined him on the 15th January 1942. They are buried in the Beaumaris cemetery.
ELLEN GOODMAN ROBERTS
Ellen was born c 1864 and lived at home in 17 and 31 Wexham Street, Beaumaris in 1871 and 1881 respectively. She was housekeeper in the latter. She married George Brereton and had four children, George, Anne, Jessie and Nellie.
GOODMAN ROBERTS
Born c 1859, Goodman always lived at the family home at census times. In 1901 at 31 Wexham Street, Beaumaris aged 37, he is recorded as a general labourer. He died a batchelor, and is buried with his father in an unmarked grave, the location of which, I do not know.
ANN JANE GOODMAN ROBERTS.
Ann was born c 1866 and lived as a member of her parents family during the census 1861 to 1901. She married John Williams, born c 1860, and the couple lived with her widowed father in 1901 at 31 Wexham Street, with their son Thomas then 18 months old. The couple had another five children, Annie, Thomas, Harry, Francis and Esther.
